Podcast helps employers to safeguard young workers

Statistics show that younger people are more likely than older ones to experience injuries at work. At a time of year when many young people are entering the workplace for the first time, Croner has launched a free audio podcast for employers, to help them address this issue and consider the risk assessments and training they need to undertake to ensure their staff are properly cared for when recruiting new workers.
In the UK, a young person is injured at work every 40 minutes. During the last ten years, 66 under-19s have been killed at work. Evidence from around the world suggests that young people have a higher-than-average risk of being killed or injured in the workplace (source: Paul Gordon, British Safety Council, International Labour Organization APYouthNet posting, 03/12/09).
